At
Martin Mere we have a flock of the beautiful, but sadly
threatened species, of the Red Breasted Geese, which can
be seen on Swan Lake.
Geese
are grazers, feeding on land, rather than in water. red
Breasted Geese have tiny beaks which they use for grazing
on the sparse grass of their tundra home. Both sexes of
Geese have similar plumage, although the male, the Gander,
is slightly larger than the female Goose. Many Geese migrate
and it is thought that the adults teach their youngsters
their migratory routes.
